Hi, I’m Laina — the photographer behind Opal & Obsidian.

I work primarily with high school seniors, college students, and families who want images that feel natural, confident, and true to who they are. I’m especially drawn to candid moments — the real laughs, the relaxed in-between expressions, the personality that can’t be posed.

 

I photograph all kinds of moments and aesthetics because every person deserves images that feel like them. At the heart of it, I just love the craft — finding beauty, framing truth, and preserving it well.

Opal & Obsidian was born from a love of contrast — light and shadow, polished and raw, posed and candid. I’m drawn to documentary-style photography because I believe the most beautiful images happen in real, unguarded moments.
